RESPONSIBILITIES
- Essential Job Functions:
- Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
- Create and maintain accurate and comprehensive reports
- Complete, document, and report the outcomes of patient care services
- Complete an approved, IRB (Ivestigational Research Board) project
- Evaluate drug therapy to maintain optimal outcomes
- Evaluate patient allergy and adverse drug experiences
- Conduct physical assessment and health histories on patients
- Implement new and improve existing patient education programs
- Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to maintain the safe and accurate dispensing of medications and patient education
- Maintain and recommend upgrades for all drug information resources
- Review and evaluate new drug/health care literature
- Review prescriptions issued by physicians to verify accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed
- Compound medications, using standard formulas and processes, such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients
- Verify new medication against existing medication and patient profile to verify that there are no drug-drug or drug-disease interactions prior to filling prescription
- Direct pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals
- Verify the work of the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants, including accuracy of all prescriptions filled
- Provide information to pharmacy customers regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals
- Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs
- Maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory
- Order medications
- Open/close department
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
QUALIFICATIONS
- Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Pharmacy experience
- Retail experience
- Bachelors degree (BS) and/or Doctoral degree (PharmD) in Pharmacy, plus successful completion of working pharmacy internship and passing of the appropriate state board exam.
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Ability to work weekends on a occasional basis
- Ability to travel independently on a occasional basis
- Maintain confidentiality
- Accuracy/attention to detail
- Ability to organize/prioritize tasks/projects
- Ability to work within strict time frames/resolute deadlines
- Current State Board of Pharmacy license from state of employment
- Valid CPR certification
